Asteroid Sweeper: Rocky Frontier
Asteroid Sweeper: Rocky Frontier
An arcade space shooter inspired by the classic 1979 arcade game Asteroids.
The background of the game's development
Originally started as a university exercise, the project gradually evolved into a personal learning journey and ultimately became my first independently developed game.

The project originally began as a small university exercise intended to introduce students to the Godot game engine. The initial tasks focused on learning fundamental concepts such as object movement, dynamic object instantiation, collision handling, and the implementation of visual and audio effects.
Over time, the project gradually evolved into a personal learning journey for me, during which I focused on developing more advanced game mechanics, UI systems, as well as continuously improving the overall gaming experience.
So it became the first small game project I developed entirely on my own, without the help of any guided tutorials, which made it a significant milestone in my learning process.
Gameplay
Pilot your spaceship through endless waves of asteroids and destroy as many of them as possible to achieve the highest score you can.
But you are not alone out there — watch out for mysterious encounters of the third kind hunting asteroids and intruders within their territory.
Features
- Classic arcade-style gameplay
- Endless asteroid wave progression
- Dynamic asteroid fragmentation
- Randomised enemy UFO encounters
- Increasing gameplay challenge over time
- Detailed end-of-run statistics
- Four distinct pilot voice options
- Three different ship variants – cosmetic effect only
- Four selectable ship colours
Future of the project
The recent statistics implementation and UI overhaul currently mark the last major planned update for the foreseeable future, as development focus is shifting towards other university projects.
While there are still many ideas for future improvements and additions, the game has reached a state that feels complete enough to stand on its own as an arcade experience.
